Portbail
Another small coastal resort, south of Barneville-Carteret is Portbail.
An attractive town of shops, bars and restaurants, set around a raised tree shaded square and picturesque church.
Every Tuesday morning the square is filled with the bustle of the weekly market, and regular events are held also in the square. On one side is a useful tourist information office offering WIFI. There is a large norman church, which hosts regular exhibitions by local artists. The road slopes to the Thirteen Arches bridge which spans the tidal rive. This opens up into a large waterway at high tide as it meanders to the river mouth and the sea. Sailing boats and kayaks can be hired from the sailing club. A cycle way runs along the coast and a myriad of footbaths run across the sand-dunes to Lindburgh plage. When the tide goes out, it leaves a basin of glorious white sand.
