Fierville les Mines is a small village, just 3km from the maison.
The attraction that sets this village apart is its working restored windmill, set on top of the hill.
There is a carpark, visitors centre and good restaurant beside the mill.
Regular events are staged here, where often the old farming techniques are demonstrated and flour ground. Like all good french events, it usually involves lunch taken outdoors, on long communal tables, often with a wood cooked lamb. The views from the vantage point beside the mill, of the surrounding countryside are stunning.
